Dominican Republic VI

Part of the Christopher Columbus Church in Santa Domingo, the place the Christopher first landed in the new world. For good reason, Christopher Columbus is not too popular in the Dominican Republic. However, there are no descendants of the native people that met Christopher when he landed left alive. They were all killed by genocide. The people who populate the DR come from Spain (Conquistadors), Africa (former Slaves) or Haiti (also slaves).
It was Easter, and most people were at home enjoying their families.
I love the colors they use to paint houses in the Carribbean.
This was at the first hotel that we stayed at, and it turned out to be our favorite during our trip. At night, a man would come and play his guitar and sing.
This reminds me of a painting.
