4th of July

I met up with Tamara, Martin and Abigale at Gas Works Park for the big 4th of July Fireworks show. We got there at about 3pm and had to while away our time playing cards and betting with packets of sunscreen.
We weren't allowed to bring in alcohol, but we managed to sneak some by the people that do the bag checks. It also helped pass the time.
All the fireworks get shot of this barge that they park in the middle of Lake Union.
I created the above photo by zooming in during the 8 second exposure. The fireworks in the top of the frame are actually the same as the ones below them.
On our way home we stopped by the Blue moon tavern. It's quite the dive. I think that Tamara liked it. We spent some time with Eric, who comes from Ballard and apparently has quite the affinity for Alaskan Amber Ale. He knew all of the history of the Blue Moon, and told us all about it.

This is a short history of the Blue Moon Tavern according to Eric:
1. It opened right after prohibition.
2. It was built exactly 1 mile from the UW campus because of the liquor rules of that time.
3. Tom Robbins (famous author) loves the Blue Moon and writes an article for the paper whenever anyone tries to change it.

Glad to see that your shots came out great! It was nice meeting you on the hill at Gasworks on the 4th. My pictures aren't up yet...but hopefully soon. They'll be up at www.jeffgarberphoto.com. See you around!
